Because of my orthopaedic care, I can play all of my sports I played before.
I have always loved playing all sports – soccer, baseball, basketball, football, volleyball. I was playing club soccer and concentrating mainly on soccer so I could try out for the freshman soccer team in high school. People said I might even make JV. I had a soccer scrimmage, turned to make a shot, and felt pain in my knee. I was able to walk off the field. I was playing football and walking to 7-11 with my friends, thinking it wasn’t bad at all. I even lied to my parents in order to cancel my doctor’s appointment since I believed it would be better in a matter of days, but it turned out to be a near complete anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear. About a month later I had a hamstring reconstruction because my growth plates are still open. My physical therapy has been going great, and I am cleared to run now (3 months out). I hope that in 2 more months, I will be able to play soccer again!
