Despite being born with bilateral club feet, thanks to 10 years of care by renowned orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Hiram Kite, I was able to competively compete in a wide range of athletics.

I became a surgeon because I always wanted to be a physician.

I love working with my hands and fixing things. I had plenty of orthopaedic injuries as I was growing up. Through these injuries, and my father who was an orthopaedic surgeon, I was exposed to the field of orthopaedics and I came to love it.

I had a great deal of orthopaedic experience growing up. I spent more time in the orthopaedist’s office than the pediatrician’s.

Following graduation from college, four friends and I attempted to ride across the country on bicycles. We were young, strong and very fit. After 1600 miles, three of us were hit head-on by a fast moving automobile. I spent a month in the hospital with multiple injuries and was discharged directly to medical school.

I wanted to apply my skills to improving the quality of life of my patients. I want to allow people to keep moving, to continue doing the things that they enjoy, and not let injuries and arthritis keep them down.
